I feel like Dorothy in a Whirlwind

We're having a "wind advisory" right now.

The wind howled and blew yesterday and all night...and we're expecting MORE today.

Several times while bringing Henry out, I had to cling on to the door knob or risk being jerked off my feet and off the "porch", falling and breaking my neck!

I had to spend part of the day cleaning up the yard because of all the bits of litter that were blown in from goodness knows where, and the poor plants that David had recently planted are now traumatised...not to mention all the dust in the air! Even Henry would quickly pee and drag me back into the house.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
308 AM CDT WED APR 6 2005

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

SUSTAINED WINDS IN EXCESS OF 30 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER PORTIONS OF THE BIGCOUNTRY WITH GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH.

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE 31
TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 46 AND 57 MPH. WINDS OF THESE
MAGNITUDES MAY CAUSE MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE WITHOUT EXTRA PRECAUTIONS. MOTORISTS IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES SHOULD USE CAUTION UNTIL THE WINDS SUBSIDE.

Needless to say, I'm going to have to start picking up scraps of litter all over our 5 acres again today.
Well, I should be Thankful it wasn't any worse or that we didn't have a DUST STORM!

Chieh, I heard on the news yesterday about windy condition at Dallas airport and I meant to call you... Thanks goodness everything is okay, except for the litter.

amazing that there's even such a thing as a wind advisory! it's been quite windy here, too, but I'm sure not nearly that much! Spring is full of ups and downs, such beautiful weather most of the time, but also tornado season... *sigh*

We are expecting heavy thunderstorms and wind starting tonight. It's hard to have dogs sometimes because they don't want to go out and who can blame them? :-)

I had the same weather this past weekend. Evertime I went outside, I felt like I was going to be blown to Oz. lol...If I had a dog like Toto from the Wizzard of Oz, I think I might have turned to him and say," I don't think we are in Kansas anymore." lol

I'm just glad that you didn't get anymore damage then you did. You were lucky just like I was. We didn't have any damage except for the litter like you have.

Well, I need to go get ready for church! Tata!

We also had the heavy wind today, it was a mess. On the way to work, I saw a sheet of plywood blow by, if I would have been a few seconds earlier it would have hit my car.

Here is hoping to a calm day tomorrow!

I hope you have a great Thursday-Jeff

Extreme weather, bah. Around here, you never know what's going to come off the mountains, but we've never had winds like that. It usually happen in the central past of the province. But we've had hail in July so you never know around here.

Wow, I haven't experienced a dust storm since I lived in the middle east. I wonder if they would close school if we had one here. I didn't even get a snow day this year! I'm very bitter about that >_>.

Wheee!
I'll bet you can hear that irritating Whistling sound too. Creepy.

dust storms are terrible. If you wear contacts, be sure to go with glasses for a few days. If you put bowls of boiling water around your house just before the storm, you may be able to keep it humid enough to keep the dust down. Then vaccum right after.

Gravatar Having lived through one tornado, no make that two now that I think about it, wind can be scary. Hope to day proves to be hot and sunny. Not sure if I even know what that is these days. Ask me about snow and I can tell you all you might want to know.
