Call me Scarface

What a freak accident

I was obliviously dreaming last night, in bed, when I was rudely awakened by something landing on my face, followed by a sharp pain on the right side of my face.

Something had spooked Tabby so bad ( a shadow in the window? ) that he had leapt from David's side of the bed to mine, and my face just so happened to be on his flee path.

It was a blur, but I remember covering the right side of my face and whimpering, and David getting some light on my face. I uncovered my face and as I looked at the speck of blood ( well, just a little bit ) on my hand, the blood drained out of David's face when he saw me, and rushed to get the "first aid kit".

I now have 2 wounds on the upper right quadrant of my face:

  • A laceration across the right side of my forehead
  • A laceration from the bridge of my nose, extending across my right eyelid and ending up by my right ear.

We quickly got some hydrogen peroxide and triple antibiotic cream on it and David had to hold me for a bit as I whimpered.

This morning when I woke and looked in the mirror for the first time, and all I could think was, THANK GOD IT DIDN'T GET MY EYE!

The wounds aren't that bad, although they look kinda angry cos they're on my face, but they're not that deep and should heal up pretty quick.

*gets out the foundation and concealer for now*

Happiness is a new MOP!

You know you are domesticated when..

You delight in your new Swiffer Wet Jet and can't stop mopping the floor each time the dog walks across the kitchen after coming in from outside.

AND YOU USED TO PROCRASTINATE DOING THAT!!!!!!

I am a Wuss

We were at Stephanie's ( David's niece and now MY niece too! ) house today

for Tyler ( David and my GREAT nephew ) 's birthday party and we were playing in Steph's swimming pool in the backyard. They had had a pool slide and I was screaming my head off coming down it, but at the same time, finding myself climbing up it over and over and over!!

I wasn't as brave as Holly ( my jnr bridesmaid ) though, who was coming down the thing head first, sideways, on her tummy etc.!!!

*hanging head in shame*

Armstrong's mom will be main speaker at luncheon

By Jan Woodward
July 25, 2005

pictureThe YWCA welcomes Linda Armstrong Kelly as the keynote speaker at the ''Empowering Women With Tools to Dream'' luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 29.

Kelly is best-known as the mother of Texas-born seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.

Her 2005 book, ''No Mountain High Enough (Raising Lance, Raising Me),'' focuses on her early life as a teenage mother, living in poverty and trying to do the right thing while raising an unstoppable 10-pound baby boy.

Lance Armstrong credits his mother as the unsung hero who helped him achieve his spectacular cycling victories - and his triumph over cancer. He also calls his mother his role model.

The event at the Abilene Civic Center, 1100 N. 6th St., is by reservation only.

The YWCA is accepting sponsorships and table reservations. More information is available by calling 677-5321.

Funds raised through the luncheon benefit the YWCA and its programs, YW-CAre, Y-Teens and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Waaaaay too soon

David and I attended a relative's wedding yesterday

It was beautiful and held at THE best hotel in Abilene, the Ambassador Suites ( left ), with reception at the Williams Performing Arts Center at Abilene Christian University ( right).

I think the cutest part was when the adorable little flower girl had stage fright and had to be carried down the aisle by her grinning dad..

But we both agreed it was just a little bit too much wedding just a month after ours..*laugh*

We couldn't manage to get down there to salvage things, but good friends have promised to help move things to higher ground and help secure the house.

Now we can only Pray.

Deers are Pests

I know, I know...

Deers like Bambi are cute and adorable,

but when they start chewing up your rose hedge that you had invested time, money, sweat, tears and blood in, you start concocting ways to get rid of them..

Or at least get them to stop chewing up your plants..

Deer Repellent Recipe

Eggs
Cayenne Pepper
Water

Spray onto plant

... if the smell doesn't get to them, then the hot pepper will...

Good Grief

I never stop marvelling

at the kinds of "national days" and "weeks" and "months" that are celebrated here.

Tomorrow's National Ice Cream Day!!!!

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.

He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90% of the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

The International Ice Cream Association (IICA) encourages retailers and consumers to celebrate July as National Ice Cream Month. In 2005, National Ice Cream Day will be Sunday, July 17.

Post Wedding Obligations

We went to Michael's and Hobby Lobby yesterday

( yes, I know I'm quite late... )

to get supplies to make Thank You cards for the wedding with, and I've been fiddling around with PrintShop and Photoshop this morning and I finally have the first prototype ready ..

On another note, yesterday we finally went to Sam's and got the wedding ring changed to one of a proper size..I have a size 4 1/2 ring finger and the smallest they had was 5, but we figured once we got the 5, we could go to a jeweller and get it resized.

Behold ... The Wedding Ring...

Showcase in the Sky

We were soaking in our hot tub last night..

when i mentioned to David that I had never seen a shooting star.

Well, he said that, that was hard to believe, but if I was just patient enough, I would see one soon enough..

So tonight we were in there again, talking and looking up at the stars, when over a period of an hour I saw not just one, but FOUR shooting stars! I told David about the first two and THEN made wishes, but he said that it didn't count because you can't tell that you've seen it before making your wish..

So I kept quiet and made wishes first after seeing the 3rd and 4th one, THEN told him I had seen them *smiles*

Lonely Day at Home

Yesterday while we were out

at the church gathering for 4th of July gatherings, we noticed that the inner left tyre of our F350 was getting frayed..*GASP* And no auto places were open for us to get it replaced..

So this morning, David went over to Pep Boys and there were more things to do than anticipated, so he spent hours and hours and hours there..

poor baby.
