Of Texas Rains and Delivery Men

During the recent rain several days ago,

we were under a flash flood watch. Since our property is on higher ground than a big part of our county, we never did worry too much about flooding. It wasn't till we were traveling along one of the back roads near us, that we realised just lucky we were to be situated where we were. Granted, this isn't the worst this road has ever seen, but this was the first time we had travelled down it after a heavy downpour. Naturally, we TURNED BACK!.

On Friday, when Cindy brought me home after our "Girls' Day Out", we were greeted with this scene, and David standing in front of it, with his hands on his cheeks, shaking his head.

Apparently, the Fedex Guy had been to our place and left a package, without David ever hearing anything from inside the house, and as he was leaving, had RUN OVER PART OF OUR LAWN AND SUBSEQUENTLY OUR FREAKING MOSQUITO ZAPPER/KILLER THINGY! AND IT IS NOW IN PIECES!

At first we had not noticed the package that had been left on the steps by the side door, and were completely dumbfounded and befuddled as to WHO ON EARTH could have killed our mozzie killer. I mean, there were still tyre tracks on the lawn and on the base thingy of the mozzie zapper.

THEN we saw the parcel, and immediately made a call to FEDEX to file an incident report.

NOW WE WAIT.

*grumble grumble*

Hosea 6:3 Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.

Psalm 103:1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; 5. Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Sleepy Heads

I can't help but LOVE

the new remix function on Photobucket.com

that allows me to easily remix videos into something like this .....

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
May angels watch me through the night
and wake me with the morning light.

Comfort Food from Home

My parents sent me a care package..

well, it was actually a Christmas Package that took 3 months by sea to get here, but what the hey, it was full of good stuff :)

Anyway, my parents had sent me a few packets of Keropok Udang ( Prawn Crackers ) which are flour based snacks, mixed with fish, prawns or vegetables. May not sound that great, but it's delicious. The traditional way is to heat up some oil in a wok, and then deep fry the stuff, whereby it would puff up, kind of like what popcorn does in the microwave.

I've discovered you can actually microwave the "raw" keropok and it will still puff up ( for a much healthier snack ) but this one time, I decided to do it the good ol' traditional way :)

I hate them Mozzie Flies

The rain has been good

AND bad..

It's been good for some of our plants and our lawn, and it's filled up the lakes and reservoirs, but now our 5 acres look like wild terrain with all the overgrown weeds and with the tall grass comes chiggers. BLEH. And MOSQUITOES!

It's like they've come on with a vengeance, and i can't go outside in my shorts for 5 seconds, literally, without getting bitten somewhere or another. *sigh*

And it's not like if I'm out there longer than 5 seconds, I don't put on a shirt with long sleeves or long pants.. THEY GET MY HANDS INSTEAD, them little b**gers.

So, along with the usual protection we've had to rope in the help of a Mozzie Killer thingy, and trusty ol' Chiggerex.

I wouldn't mind the mozzie flies so much if there weren't all these diseases lurking in them stinging pests, and if I didn't get such horrific itchy welts! *woe am I*

On a more positive note, here's 4 of Momma's 6 kitties, posing for me a couple of days ago. :P

Deuteronomy 32:2

"Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants."

Happy Mother's Day!

Here's my ever hip mummy

with my niece, Evangeline and nephew, Glendon, in Malaysia. :) We love you soooo much mom!!

“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.”

Storms, Family and Animals

It's Spring season aka Tornado Season

in the Tornado Alley, and Abilene happens to be IN Tornado Alley. *sigh*. There have been some close calls, and we follow the NOAA radar daily, keep an ear open for any warning sirens from our weather radio, and just keep praying.

Click HERE for more weather pictures.

Spring is also the season for new life and renewal.. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, we're talking about our PETS here :P

Remember Fluffy? She adopted us some months ago, and apparently was pregnant at that time unbeknown to us, and she finally had 8, yes, EIGHT puppies almost a week ago.

Click HERE for a couple more puppy pictures.

Also, Momma's kitties are now a little over 2 weeks.

Other happenings:

Walter celebrated his 88th birthday late April, and here's to many many more wonderful blessed years ahead.

Stephanie had an opening featuring her blown-glass art work at the Center for Contemporary Arts here in Abilene last week. It was amazing.

Psalms 107:28-30

"Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven."
