Happy Halloween !

Our Church had a Trunk Party on Thursday

Trunk n' Treat parties seem all the rage.. anyway, we dropped by after Letti Thursday because the church building was just about a block or 2 away.

The crowd lining up towards the cars/trunks

Do you spot Harry Potter?

The Spice Girls

My share of the loot. Pretty sad.

2 Little Cuties ( check out the little chicky's left "gloved" foot )

I wasn't feeling well, so we had Rotisserie Chicken and Stuffed Cheddar Jalapenos from Sam's and I baked some potatoes and made a salad for this week's Letti Thursday.

Happy Halloween, Everyone.

Baby Update

We had our 16 + week dr's appt today

and we were concerned because I was having a pretty bad cold and not being able to rest well with all the congestion and sinus/face pain. So it was v. reassuring that the doctor agreed that the baby was growing well, as it should be, and we heard a strong heartbeat over the fetal doppler, 161 beats per minute. :)

So I'm now on Claritin D as recommended by the doctor and if I don't feel better by Friday, I will have to call her up again and she may have to start me on something else. Bleh

AND I've been "ordered" to get my flu shot.

You got it.. it's Letti Thursday yet again

It can be quite difficult,

not having grown up in this country, to try and come up with a variety of stuff every week for the boys. Don't get me wrong. It is a pleasure and a delight to be able to do this. I just have to scour the web for some good ol' Southern recipes sometimes.

Anyway, the boys enjoyed this week's meal, which was hush puppies, baked salmon patties/croquettes, mustard greens and walnut chocolate chip cookies. Yum :)

I am a human commode

I made a blog post

with the same title over at my preggo blog about how I am now a human toilet bowl.

Read all about it. It has to do with our lil schnookums, who turns 16 weeks tomorrow :)

Also,

can you tell this is a ploy to kinda put more posts between Letti Thursday posts?

*grin*

Who let the dogs out...

Well, we did.

The third of the 3 kennels is finished, and Henry our choc lab and Big Ear the rottie mix are out of the house. Henry has NEVER been out of the house for even one night, the spoilt brat, but times are a'changing, and we have our reasons. Once we have the ( enclosed ) porch built though, he'll be right back in the house - except just in the porch area. So it's kind of like a transition time. Over the next couple of days, among other things, I'll be breaking down the 2 doggie overnight crates in the kitchen and finally claiming my kitchen back. Ah, the possibilities... :)

We'll miss the buggers being in the house, and it WAS hard to see them wondering WTH? and barking almost till 3 am in the morning, expecting us to "rescue them"... but hopefully the porch/sun room gets built at some point and we'll have them lounging around again in no time.

An interesting weekend

So Letti Thursday isn't technically the beginning of the weekend

but let's start there.

1. Letti Thursday

This week was spaghetti/noodle chicken casserole with crescent rolls and southern style green beans with new potatoes.

2 Picnic at Abilene State Park

We just HAD to, HAD to take advantage of the lovely lovely weather before it got too cold to have a picnic out at the state park. David, his dad and I had a great time out enjoying nature. We even had a visit from some deer!

3. Prairie Home Companion Live Broadcast/Taping from Abilene Christian University

We got tickets to go listen to/watch the live broadcast on NPR ( National Public Radio ) of the renowned Prairie Home Companion radio show, with Garrison Keillor. It was held at the Moody Coliseum at ACU, and we enjoyed ourselves throughout the 2 hours of the show, which was broadcast via satellite throughout the nation.

My poor babyness

The OTHER baby, I mean.

David is down with fever and chills, poor baby.

Get well soon, honeyness.

"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds," declares the LORD.

On the Home Front and Tree of Mercy Benefit Dinner

David has been busy

with a friend of ours, Brett, on moving the dogs ( yup, the umpteen great Pyrenees-mix puppies-no-more) over to the other side of the property for several reasons. So they have been dismantling and reassembling ( and reinforcing ) the 3 kennels for the girls & fluffy, the boys, and one more for Henry and Big Ear. The girls are all fixed, but I KNOW they are glad to have a kennel of their own rather than being chased around by lusty boys all day long. They actually DO seem to be so much more mellow with the boys in the next kennel .. well, MOST of the time, at least.

Zambia Medical Mission Benefit Dinner

On Saturday, I escaped dinner duty because my FIL was sponsoring a table at the benefit dinner for different facilities and amenities at the Namwianga Rural Health Center in Zambia and had given us a couple of tickets to the "do".

Okay, this is serious

My blog is in danger

of turning into a Letti Thursday blog. I think partly it's because I'm preggers 24/7 and so that's mostly what's on my mind, and hence my Preggo Blog :).

Anyway, da bebe is now 14 weeks today. Isn't that amazing? And about the size of a peach, and moving and making faces and has fingerprints and EVERYTHING!

So back to Letti Thursday :)

Here's what we had this week

Garlic Sour Dough Bread

Peas & Carrots

Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

Italian Herb Chicken

Other than being preggo,

Life is pretty hum drum at the moment

The last checkup with the doctor was good, and we go have a detailed ultrasound scan middle of this week, which we are really looking forward to..

So when there's nothing else to blog about, what does one do? Blog about FOOD!
Although right now even though I'm over the nausea bit, I still can't get back into the "food groove". Not that that's put a dent in my WEIGHT GAIN! BLEH.

So here we go...

Letti Thursday
Hickory flavor Buffalo Wings with Rolls and Veges with dip

Annual Kiwanis Fish ( and Chicken ) Fry

My attempt at Satay ( although I just fried the meat and didn't grill it coz I was NOT in the mood to clean the indoor grill after cooking )

Photobucket

I have no (major) complaints right now, life is good and we have so many blessings to be thankful for.
