Scott Family Reunion

a.k.a. Jaxon's first trip out of Abilene...

( ..but not counting the time we went to Vegas when I was 17 weeks preggo..... )

We joined the Scotts for their family reunion again this year in Comanche, Tx ( the matriach of the clan was a Woods ) , as they had invited Walter to tell stories from his youth about the Woods family in the early days. This was probably Jaxon's first extended trip out of Abilene, so I was a little apprehensive, but he weathered the trip pretty well, and only had one "major" crying spell from sleepiness/overtiredness. Otherwise, it was a pretty fun trip.

We stopped by the Rockin' J Cafe for dinner..they had great onion rings..,

and David tried to get Jaxon into their child seat. Which I wiped down obsessively with baby wipes. ( hence a grouchy momma pic )

It was fun times at the Comanche Community Center where everyone visited with one another and Walter starts telling his stories

A Very Neglected Post

We had the family out again this year

for July 4th. It was the babies' ( Max, Jaxon and Azmari ) first 4th! After about half an hour, Jaxon had to be carted off back into the room for a nap while the rest of the family enjoyed visiting and good food.

I made BBQ chicken and ribs, David got some potato salad from Sam's and we cut up some Cantaloupe and Honey Dew. Everyone else was assigned something to bring and it ended up being quite the yummy feast.

David made sure that the kids had something to keep them happy and occupied. I'm sure all of us adults were quite envious :)

Everyone had to leave early this time because of really dark clouds on the horizon that were moving our way, and the wind really picking up. We were disappointed that they could not stay to watch the city's fireworks from our vantage point, but later found out that the fireworks were cancelled because of the weather.

Extreme Domesticatedness

I'd been griping

about our chintzy vacuum cleaner not being able to do ANYTHING with our carpet. We've got tracked-in dirt ( can't convert the hubs to barefootedness, alas ) , cat hair ( and other cat-related unspeakables ), and basically things that make me cringe making the carpet a mess.

So, I was QUITE overjoyed when the hubs surprised me with a COMMERCIAL grade vacuum cleaner. Women's lib organizations around the world are probably giving me dirty looks, but I LOVE my new vacuum cleaner, so there.

Introducing the Eureka Commercial High Filtration Upright Vacuum - Yellow C2094. Be sure your carpet gets a deep clean with this commercial upright vacuum. Allergen micron filtration removes dust mites, ragweed and pollen, while the Vibra Groomer I brush roll cleaning action vibrates out deeply embedded dirt for a thorough clean.

Eureka Part Number: C2094H

Features

  • 7-amp motor provides the suction power you need to get the job done
  • Allergen micron filtration system removes 100% of dust mites, ragweed and pollen, as well as particles 15 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair, so you can breathe easier ( yay for us atopic individuals )
  • Vibra Groomer I brush roll cleaning action vibrates dirt that is embedded in the carpet to ensure a deep clean
  • 6-position carpet height adjustment allows you to find the right brush roll height for different carpet and floor surfaces
  • Headlight reveals hidden dirt, so you don't miss any areas ( like, woah )
  • 50' power cord stops you from unplugging and moving the cord when cleaning larger rooms ( I mean, 50 freaking feet! from one end of the house to the other wouldn't take anywhere near 50 feet! )

I am also reminded of the blender blunder scene from Father of The Bride where Steve Martin's daughter's fiance gives her a blender as a wedding present and she's all up in arms and in tears and wanting to call the wedding off. LOL
