"Hey, that looks like......"

We were coming home from grocery shopping, when we slow down as we are approaching a stop light. The hubs sees a car stopped at the side of the road and he says, "Hey, that looks like Cindy's car".

Lo and behold, as we get closer, and the hubs recognizes it as Lin's car ( Cindy had passed it on to him before she left for Africa ).

We make a U turn, the hubs helps push the car out of the traffic, and we give Lin a ride to McDonald's.

Afterwards, the little boy exclaims, "Wow, I didn't know Daddy was THAT strong!" *chuckle*

Too many things, too little time

I've been digitalizing Grandad's photo albums, and that has pretty much been taking up all the free time I have. Fortunately, I get to multitask and get SOME other stuff done while waiting for each 20 or 30 second BZZT to go by. Hoy.

I have a lot of catching up to do with the blog, but it has been amazing going through the hub's family's history through these photographs - and I've been catching up on movies as well, with split screen and whatnot on the puter. :)

A Canvas called The Sky

We went outside the other day for our evening walk, and came face to face with just the most amazing sunset.  There were thunderstorm clouds a little north of us, and they just gave the sky a most spectacular appearance..

It almost seemed like the sky was on fire.

As we walked a little further, we saw a perfect line in the sky, as if God had used a ruler with that one shadow up there :)

July 4th 2016 ( Part 2 )

On July 4th proper, we headed off to Hillcrest bright and early for the Hillcrest Neighborhood Parade.  This year, the little boy was very content to sit down next to us, watching the parade like a Big Boy.  Part of me was going, "Wow, I don't have to go chasing after him this year", and part of me was thinking, "*sigh**silent weeping**heart breaking* he is acting like a Big Boy already"..... ARGH GROWING PAINS FOR PARENTS IS REAL, I TELL YOU!!!!!

This year was the 20th anniversary of the Parade, and the community came out in droves to appreciate and participate.

The little boy once again, was quite excited to go get the candy that was being thrown to the "audience", but once we got home, as usual, he promptly forgot all about them and hasn't mentioned them since.

After the parade, everyone filed into the Multi Purpose Room for some ice cream and cookies!

The little boy had 3 little cups of ice cream and decided that he liked Cookies and Cream the best!

I managed to get him to pose with some props,

and discovered the next day, that I was in the Photo Gallery of the Abilene Reporter News Online!

Later that night it rained, but we waited it out and he went to bed a little later because we had promised fireworks, and by George, we would have fireworks!

July 4th 2016 ( Part 1 )

This year our July 4th started the evening before, as we joined our neighbor Charles and his family to usher in the nation's 240th birthday.

His granddaughter Maddie, and her cousins who were around Jaxon's age were there, and so there were little kids for the little boy to play with while we waited for the Fireworks Show to start.

After a while, the kids decided THEY wanted to have their own fireworks show while waiting, so we adjourned over to the deck/porch area and stayed a reasonably safe distance away, up on the deck.

There were braver souls who decided to watch from a closer vantage point...

Even from up where we were, some of the pops were just a little too loud.

I was glad that Ryan, a boy of 8, who was Charles' nephew, was there too, as he had been by to visit a few times before, and Jaxon had gone over to play with him. The both of them were quite the pair, howling everytime the firecrackers went off, and telling silly jokes.

The Fireworks Display finally came on at about 10 pm, and although we were quite a bit farther away this year, it was still quite a show.

Nevertheless, it was fun, and the little boy was very eager to set off some fireworks of our own or at least, have fun with sparklers the next night!
