Folks from Malaysia

My parents arrived in the US of A today

from Malaysia for the wedding, along with my older sister and her baby boy...

Jumbledmind and my brother in law will be here in the first week of June.

Right now they're with our brother in Richmond where they'll spend about 2 weeks before coming over to Texas.

Wow. *doing cartwheels*

In Memory of Peter Cottontail

David was mowing the overgrown "jungle"...

that's next to our house, yesterday when suddenly he went all pale, stopped the mower and went "AARRGGHHH!!!! I KILLED A BABY RABBIT!!!!!"

I rushed to the "crime scene" to see that while mowing the thick underbrushes, he had uncovered a rabbit's nest with 5 or 6 little cottontail babies wriggling around inside. ONE had flopped out and writhing about ( the one David has apparently "killed" ).

We immediately called up his niece, who's brilliant and knows these things, and she said to cover up the nest with some grass coz the mother usually feeds them twice a day - right before dawn, and at dusk...and she might not abandon them as yet. We WERE worried about their momma leaving them, ( but we've seen her last night and this morning lurking around the nest, so we know she's still around ), but the sun is just sooo unrelenting that we were afraid they might get overheated and die of dehydration / sun exposure.

ANYWAY, the little one that had flopped out, tried to "escape" this morning - I wonder if it was a concussion causing it to hallucinate ( David swore he must have whacked it with some part of the mower ) or whatever, but we brought it into the house, tried to call the zoo, the vet, and any other animal shelter we could think of, to no avail.

So, now "Peter" Cottontail is in a box in my room, far from the clutches of TABBY, hopefully recuperating while we go out today and get some kitty formula milk replacement for it.

We would rather it was out there with the other babies, but we'll play it by ear for now and keep watching out for Momma Cottontail.

UPDATE : Peter didn't make it.............*sigh*

Wedding Update

I tried on my Size 8 gown again today

When I got it a few months ago, we could not button up the back and that's when I "embarked" on the weight loss thing..

This morning when I tried it, the snap buttons actually clicked together!!!!!!!!

Who knows, if i keep it up and lose more weight, it may just have to be altered after all..not to a bigger size, but a smaller one! *Does a little jig for joy*

All that hard work is paying off

At least in the front yard..

with flower beds and roses and a new lawn with Bermuda Grass ( oooo..the toes are having a field day ) but there's still a lot to be done and i'm getting "tan" despite getting all hooded up and wear ing a hat and long sleeves and gloves just because I'm vain and don't wanna have Tan lines that show when i wear the wedding gown..LOL

...which is due for another try/fitting probably next week to see if any alterations need to be done to it...

I KNOW I'm going to get wild mood swings because I have just started the SLIM FAST diet ( desperado time ) and in 2 days i've lost 1 lb, which isn't all that bad, I suppose.

But women know that diets make them depressed and cranky...Poor David.

Dripping wet in the Cattery

We had gotten some turf grass..

from Lowe's for the cattery, and because of other ..ahem..."priorities", had left the grass at the back of the truck for a few days..

To our dismay, when we unloaded them 2 days ago, some had turned kinda brown and mushy..so, yesterday, David tilled up the cattery earth and we started laying down the sod.

Then it started raining.

NO, it POURED...

....Cats and Dogs ( Pun intended )

I was so miserable laying the heavy soaked sod on the ground and mud had stuck onto my boots, so I was lugging around like 5 extra pounds on each foot, I was wet, I was cold, but we knew it had to be done.

AFTERWARDS, when I was back in the house, clean, snug and warm in my terry bath robe, watching The Amazing Race I started thinking that sometimes, to feel really good, we have to go through some really miserable times first...to learn new things, we have to go through hard lessons.

( all philosophical, bleh )

Anyway, here's pictures of some of the cats all of this was done for.

It finally happened..

I had a wedding nightmare

I dreamt ..
  • everyone was in the wrong clothes
  • we didn't have a rehearsal, so the whole sequence was awkward
  • my bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer didn't even have a chance to be in the procession
  • the wedding was over before i noticed the photographer was NOT present
It was a few days back that I dreamt this, so it's all a bit fuzzy now. I've relaxed as far as wedding preparations go, coz apparently, in my "frantic"ness, I seem to have covered most bases so now I'm concentrating on different things...

maybe it was all that news about the runaway bride from Georgia which sparked all of this....
