Tersa Sphinx Moth

I wonder if I will ever catch a glimpse of another Tersa Sphinx Moth.

I don't remember ever having laid eyes on one as long as we have lived here.

Almost Fossils

We found a very old bird's nest, complete with eggs.

However, the insides were dried and rattled like maracas.

They were really small too. I really do wonder what happened.

We can only wait and see.

Assassins on the Plantation

Never Have I Ever seen anything quite as intimidating as THIS HERE CREATURE.

It has this Saw Blade Looking Thing on its back and looks Mighty Ferocious.

I have since Googled and Learned More about this particular insect, which turns out to be a Wheel Bug or as it is also called, An Assassin Bug.

Apparently it is a good bug to have in your garden as it helps to control the Pest Population. I am hoping that they will help keep the Dreaded Aphids down to a manageable amount, if not Totally Eradicating them. 

Oh, and you Squash Bugs and Cucumber Beetles, you guys had better watch out too. I see you.

Such Domestication

Since the beginning of The Pandemic, we have hardly been anywhere, and just about all the posts are of such mundane things as My Vegetable Garden.

However, My Vegetable Garden is my Zen Place in the midst of all this, and right now, Happiness is Female Cucumber Flowers.

Mamo's Weekly Friday Call

We try to call Judith, The Hub's eldest sister, on a weekly basis, just to touch base.  Sometimes it means taking a short break from all the walking and cycling to say "Hello!"

Little by Little

Our Bell Peppers have ripened to a really vibrant red.

They may not be the biggest, but I am sure proud of them :)

Also, more cucumbers! Yum.

The Hubs and The Jess

Just some pics of The Hubs and Jessie as we start to walk.  The Hubs has taken to bringing Jessie along for our daily walks, and The Little One gets really excited every day when The Hubs gets ready and reaches for the leash.

Archaeological Finds

Well, not really, but here are some iron rods that we somehow procured, I wanna say, 15 or so years ago, that just sat out and are just about on their last legs?

I'm putting them to use in the new extended garden area. In a variety of ways, I'm sure. Gotta squeeze every ounce of equity out of them before they actually go kaput.

Las Frutas!

They may not be humongous, but they are the first cantaloupe and watermelon of the season! 

And the Bak Choy is just taking off like crazy! Yummers!

Closing off with Chicken Wire

I'm closing off another portion that is adjacent to where the tomatoes and cucumbers are, so that I can hopefully plant more things without them being dug up by ... armadillos and the like.

It is still a work in progress, but here's what's been done so far.

Right now, all that is there are the poor Grasshopper-Ravaged Rose Plants and some Scrap Bak Choys which have really taken off.

Fungi Galore

It's funny how I only realised the existence of the Dog Vomit Mold last year, et voila, it is here again THIS year.

Garden Update

It has been so hot that the plants are making flowers, but the flowers drop and we don't get the fruit. Therefore, seeing these little green'uns is SOOO exciting.

An Annual Affair.

Every year on September 1st, I wake up to random popping sounds going off every few minutes, all around me. 

Dove hunting season has begun.
