Easter Egg Hunt Part II

We always try to do an Easter Egg Hunt at home, seeing how we live out here where we have trees and nooks and crannies to hide eggs in. :)

And it's not so much the prize, but the thrill of the hunt for the little boy.

I left the plastic eggs empty, but wrote encouraging messages on them with a Sharpie.

Later on, the little boy wrote and drew on some eggs as well, and set up an egg hunt for ME :)

I present you, "The Thrill of the Hunt".

Easter Picnic by the Lake

We weren't exactly ON the lake, but we were close enough. What I mean is, we could SEE one of its "tributaries". :D

We packed up a picnic lunch and headed out to SeaBee Park with Uncle Lin for an Easter Picnic.

It was bright and sunshiny, but the only thing was THE WIND!

We made do, and tried to pin everything down as much as we could.. but nothing could be done about the little boy's hair, tho. :P

It was quite a feast. The hubs baked some chicken and slow-cooked beans, and I prepared watermelon, cornbread, bacon ranch potato salad and macaroni & cheese.

After lunch, the little boy was raring to go run on the big field - a plastic sack got caught by the wind, and he took that opportunity to run off after it.

The little boy had won a prize at one of the Easter Egg Hunts the day before - a Rocketcopter dealy...
and so this was the perfect time to give them a go.

After that, the little boy and I sat and relaxed and watched Daddy do some fancy kite-flying with the Dual Line kite.

Uncle Lin was so intrigued, he asked if HE could have a turn.

It was pleasant enough out in the sun, not too hot, so the little boy and I were content to just watch the big boys play.

We've been out here a few time when the RC Society were doing their aerial acrobatics, but the wind was probably too strong even for the hard core types today.

OR, they could just have been at home spending Easter with their families.

Soon it was time to go, grateful for a full belly and a fun day out with the boys.

Easter Egg Hunt Part I

Wylie Baptist Church

The first of several Egg Hunts we went to was at Wylie Baptist Church, where the first thing you do is a Photo Op! :)

I thought that we were very late, but apparently, we got there just as they were getting the kids arranged into their different age groups to go egg hunting.

When they did it this way, no kid had to wait around while other kids got to "play".

It also meant that the whole affair was very quickly over :)

Although, having doughnuts at the end did help soften the blow. :D

And then it was off to the next venue!

Southern Hills Church of Christ

Our next stop was an old friend that we visit every Easter, Southern Hills.

There is just something very comforting about routine, you know?

The various bounce houses are always a favorite for the little boy.

Not to mention the several rounds of furious "egg picking".

as well as the little barrel train :)

And then it was off to the last stop of the day..

Arthur Sears Park

I don't really have many photos, but the Park was packed, and all that mattered to the little boy was that there was egg hunting :)

Our Little Waterfall.

Believe it or not, our little waterfall, which we stop by once in a while, is the effluent from the wastewater treatment and reclamation plant..

We still love you, little waterfall!

A Beautiful Day at the Lake

Well, technically we didn't spend the entire day there, but we did drive over after lunch, as it was quite a beautiful day :)

The little boy wanted to go out to the boat docks,  and I kept close by, just in case.

The water levels were really high, and the little boy had some fun messing with seaweed.

AND exploring little nooks and crannies, especially if there were paths leading to the water.

Last but not least, we spent a few minutes at the playground.

Here's to more lovely days before the horrendous heat sets in.
Ugh.

Food

Growing up in an Asian family, which was lower middle class ( I guess ), had me never questioning anything that was served at meal time.  Be it a whole chicken with the feet and head ( complete with beak ), pig ears etc.

But I have to say, seeing this ingredient list spelled out, and in the States no less, was a bit of an eye opener.
