The Woods' Rambo Heritage

We were invited to the dedication of Stevens Park at ACU, honoring John Stevens and his wife, Ruth.

John Stevens was Chancellor Emeritus at Abilene Christian University and we were related to him through Jaxon's Grandad.

John Steven's wife, Ruth, was a Rambo, and cousin to Grandad Walter, whose mother was a Rambo.

And which is where Jaxon got his middle name from... as a tribute to Great Grandmom Elma Rambo.

Joyce, Ruth's daughter, had invited us to come honor her parents that day.  It was cold and breezy, and when the dedication was over, we were ushered over to Wildcat Stadium, a new addition to the grounds.

We went up to the Club level of the stadium where lunch was waiting. I have to admit, it was pretty exciting to be part of all the poshness.

We could see quite far off, from where we were standing.

and we couldn't help venturing outside before lunch to take it all in, especially the new football field.

It was certainly an honor meeting and eating with all these Very Important People.

After lunch, it took us no time at all to venture out onto the field, having seen it being built for months and months.

There was a football laying by the benches and the hubs and the little boy even had a chance to toss the ol' pigskin around for a bit.

We were all very proud to have been a part of remembering 2 splendid people, and it was extra special for the little boy :)
