Big A$$ Sunflower Leaves

Maybe they ARE bigger in Texas.

My hand for comparison, this one that grew right next to the steps leading up to the house.

And the blooms are just about to burst forth!

A Purple Field.

I know they are weeds, but they're rather pretty, especially in such vast numbers.

And we get to see them on our daily walk :)

Asian Grocery Delivery

My small order of indulgences came today in the mail!

I mean, just looking at the packages -  there is a feeling of comfort that just washes over me.

Bagaikan Cendawan Berceracak Selepas Hujan

That, in Malay, basically says, "Like Mushrooms Springing Up After A Rain". I've just always thought the word "Ceracak" was quaint and funny sounding.

I mean, look at how juicy those look! ( Not that I'm gonna to pick them for dinner or anything ... )

One Down, One To Go.

Now that all THREE of us ( including the "little boy" who turned 12 back in March ) were eligible for Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine, we promptly got ourselves an appointment for yesterday.

We chose to go to Hendrick's Vaccination Clinic partly, because they offered curbside vaccinations as well as  I mean, it's the hospital. If any of us had an adverse reaction, we  would already be  AT the hospital.

The lady who tended to us, Victoria, was really sweet and when she gave us our shots, all we felt was a little touch and then it was over.

We had literally not been out of our home compound in 14 months, and so there was a lot of nervous energy going into this.  We waited the suggested 15 minutes, and then were off home again.

So far, all three of us have some arm soreness, but that is about it. Our next appointment is in June, and all of us, especially the little boy, I suspect, can't wait to get back to some sense of normalcy :)

Remember the Rains from Yesterday?

On our walk today, we checked on the Rain Gauge, and saw that there had been about 4 inches of rain recorded.

The land and everything that feeds on it are loving the moisture, though.

Spring Rains

We welcome the rains, but living out here in the country, it brings mud and acres of unchecked growth!

Spring Lushness

Maintenance can be a nightmare, but it sure can be beautiful to behold when we go on our Daily Walks.

Yoghurt Day

Just love it when all the elements come together throughout the night, and in the morning there is lovely silken yoghurt to be had.

( As opposed to the times when somewhere, something had gone wrong with the process and I end up with very UNset messes )

Having said that, this is all For The Hubs.

I, being Asian of Chinese Descent, tend to suffer from Lactose Intolerance, and its ill effects from dairy consumption.

Puffy Pinkness

I have good memories of these Pink Mimosa type Wildflowers.
My younger brother has a photo of him when he was about 3 or so, in a massive field of pinkness, holding a single one of these blooms, and with a cheeky look on his face.
I love that photo. Alas, I haven't seen it in decades. I hope I get to see it again at some point.

Seedlings Update

So far so good.

Whenever it rains, as it is prone to do so in the Spring Time, I tuck them away under the rose / boxwood hedge so that, in their delicateness, they are not destroyed by heavy rains or hail.

More Roses

I just adore this Peachy Colored One.

I can see why Roses are often used for Big Romantic Gestures.

Blackberry Blooms

How Exciting.
Will we have a harvest?
Will the Birds and Critters get to them before they have a chance to ripen?
Will the infamous Texas Drought and Dryness ravage them?
We'll just have to Wait and See.

Roses in Full Bloom

I just love this color Rose that we have. They are really big and oh, so pretty and delicate looking.

There are Roses of Other Colors along the hedge, and they are a little smaller.  This photo really does them no justice at all.  Our eyes really are true wonders, as we perceive the beauties all around us.
