Jaxon's Half Birthday

It's been half a year

since we became a family of 3, and boy, has it been an adventure. We celebrated Jaxon's 6 month aka half birthday at Taco Tuesday with the family. The boy was pretty oblivious to the celebrations, but in 6 months, he'll be all "CAKE CAKE I WANT CAKE!"

Still not a Letti Thursday post

But another food post, nonetheless..

I try to avoid preparing "Asian" food for Letti Thursday, because I'm not very good at it ( not that I'm good at making Western dishes either ), but I never cooked till I got to the States, and so, any Asian food I make is usually what I can remember my grandmother or mother making, and trying to imitate that. OR try to figure out what the ingredients are in the food at the Chinese restaurants here. I know. Pretty pathetic.

ANYWAY, David usually ends up being my guinea pig, but he's been a real trooper and usually likes what I make.

So, yesterday we had..

( this one was really for ME, cos I hadn't had it in a while, but David wasn't too wild about it *smiles* )

West Texas Fair and Rodeo

Well, it was that time of year again.

We decided not to bring Jaxon to the fair this time. It would have been nice to have had a "Baby's first trip to the Fair" experience, but we were reluctant to expose him to the "crowds" and hence all kinds of cooties. We DID however, bring my FIL, and as per the years before, David wheeled him around in a wheelchair so that he could enjoy all the sights of the fair.

It's about time

for a food post.

We've resumed Letti Thursday for many months now, but I just haven't been able to muster up the energy ( or the brain cells to remember ) to take pictures.

However, the other night, I made a special note to do so, and this was not for Letti Thursday, but for dinner at home with the hubs. Why? Because I managed to get some Sweet Potato Leaves and Shoots at the Filipino store, and I literally have not had them for at least 6 years now. Like, yeah, totally historic. LOL. Plus, David enjoyed them! He liked them over the greens they have here!

Also, he had bought some ginormous shrimp from H.E.B., and requested that they be "tempura"d. But, of course!

"Girls' Day Out" Fridays

For about 3 months,

while Cindy was in Africa, David would bring me and Jaxon to bible class at my FIL's house. The boys would hang out and talk, and sometimes when Jaxon fussed, I would bring him into the class with me, where there would be no shortage of "aunts" wanting to hold him.

ANYWAY, now that Cindy is home, she comes by and brings Jaxon and me to my FIL ( HER dad )'s house for class. The last two weeks have been so much less stressful during our Friday runs. For one thing, Cindy is amazing with Jaxon. For another, we would stopp by Judith's, my SIL and Cindy's older sister, where we could relax, I could nurse a bit etc. And now that he doesn't need to feed every 2 hourly, and his naps are kind of predictable, it is easier to be out and about with the bub. I've even got to eat at George's, my favorite noodle place!

ANYWAY, all this was leading up to some pics of the bubs with his grandad and aunts, taken a couple of weeks ago.
