Survivor 50

I was actually on Borneo, going through Medical School, when the first Season of Survivor aired.  My housemates and I would stop what we were doing and pile in front of the TV to watch it every week.

Since then, I have been a fan - although there were some years in there where the show somehow lost its appeal to me, but I caught back up, albeit years later.

Today was the season premiere of Survivor 50, and I am sooo here for it.

Silky Update

The Spoilt One loves snuggling up inside the little Cat Cube during these cooler months :)

Happy Chinese New Year's Eve!

This year I thought I would try to prepare a slightly more traditional menu.  I had stayed away from whole fish and "boned" chicken in the past because the boys are more used to "fillets", without the whole "my fish is looking at me" business. *eye roll*

Also, with some prodding from my mom, I thought we would partake in Yu Sang as well!  The boys enjoyed it, and the dinner.

Yay :)

The Simple Verbena

Still such a pretty little flower, the humble purple wonder.

Happy Valentine's Day.

I suggested to the boys that THEY should be the ones who would dip the strawberries. :P

I think they did a good job, don't you?

Peter Rabbit-esque

It is lovely to see rabbits going about their business during our walks around the place.  There are less of them these days, for whatever reason ( *sigh* ), but lately, we are seeing a slight resurgence. *yay!*

Just about the only time...

that Jalapeno Poppers and Rotel Dips are made in this household is when the Superbowl is on.

A New Tire

We had a tire that kept losing air, and so something had to be done.

Nathan came by to get the tire off and brought it to be repaired.

Meanwhile, I couldn't let by a chance to take a pic like this, because it seemed like, in the movies, you would see this -  cars held up by bricks or cinder blocks when the tires stolen.

Frosty Tree Branches

I thought frost on our Mesquite branches in the early morning light, looked cool.

Freeze-Burnt Iris Leaves

I had never heard of anything being "freezer burnt" till I got here, and once cooked some freezer burn fish for the hubs, which came out all mushy, but which he still attempted to eat and not say a word about.... but that's for another day.

This time, it was our Iris leaves that got Freeze-Burnt after that Cold Spell and Snow that we encountered.

May they persevere and thrive!

Farewell, last bit of snow

Some of the Wonder that comes with seeing snow and snowfall has worn off since I arrived from The Tropics. For the last 17 odd years, however, I had been seeing it anew through the eyes of, first, The Little Boy and now, The Young Man. I hope I never lose that sense of wonderment and awe at the most mundane things.

The Thrill of Getting a Replacement Pan

Our wonderful and very reliable Vollrath Pan suddenly got a warped-and-coming-apart bottom, which also inadvertently, was making a overheated spot or something, on our induction stove top.

The hubs called the company, and long story short, they made good on their lifetime guarantee. YAY!

Trying to get into the Chinese New Year Mood

I haven't been able to have much of the CNY vibes over here, but one can try.

Indoor Plants

The plants that have been kept in the "truck" over the winter time, have been doing quite well! Granted, we do have a little heater in there, but they have survived and some have even thrived.

Holding on to the Snow

If we get snow at all in a year, it's usually just the one time.

So, I'm quite happy for the snow to hang around for a bit.  It has been cold but not sloshy, and the bits where the ice has, melted have dried out.
