Spring has Sprung

It sprang early here, really.

We have had some pretty warm temperatures here for a while now. Why can't it stay 74F all year round? It's already in the 80s and even 90s, and it just officially turned spring YESTERDAY!

Bleh.

Anyway, some time in the fall, I believe, a neighbor ran over Grandad's rose bush in the back alley. It was one that Granny Franny had "claimed" for her own and so we always refered to it as HER rose bush. The neighbor had backed his car into it or something to that effect, and had sheared it off at the ground. David has been trying to whatever could be salvaged from the broken off part, including trying to clone and grow cuttings from it.

Towards the end of winter, though, a young shoot started making its way out and up from the flattened root/base. On the nights where it got near to or below freezing, David has tried to shield it from the elements and keep it warm with a lamp and a cover.

Now that the weather is warmer, it seems to have really taken off and started this really amazing growth spurt.

The grape plant that we planted a few years ago, is also starting to come out of hibernation and stretching out its vines.
