A Volunteer!

A stray seed had found its way into becoming a full fledged plant out by the side of the house, and has yielded ONE little potential of a fruit so far.

We aren't sure what sort of melon-type plant it might be, as we eat quite a variety of those, but we are guessing cantaloupe, maybe?

The little yogurt container was just for size comparison.

Yeah, right.

Remember the jigsaw puzzle we talked about a few posts back?

Well, I was looking online to see if I could find a bigger picture that perhaps had the whole photo on it, and lo and behold, what do I find?

Someone trying to prosper off of a Dollar Tree item.

Seriously?

First Fig

We have had some cuttings from Walter's fig tree for a number of years now, but this was the first year it finally bore fruit.

Even if it was just one.

The legacy continues on!

In Search Of...

Someone who could fix the fuel gauge on our car.

We had this horrible rat infestation thing going on, on the plantation several years back, and they chewed up wires in the vehicles like you wouldn't believe.

We got some things fixed, but the fuel gauge remained faulty - we would get gas every couple of weeks like clockwork, knowing our habits and that it would be half a tank or so every couple of weeks - until this week, when we started looking for someone to actually fix it so I wouldn't have anxiety attacks if we decided to go out of town sometimes and didn't have to do mental arithmetic to make sure we had enough gas to go on.

Sno Cone Kick

What do you do when you have just had wondrous shaved ice a few days back, and have just had a string of days over 100F?

Why, you dig out your old snow cone machine and snow cone makings, and have a snow cone party!

The little boy thinks it is waaaaaay too loud.

Welder #3

Will he be the lucky one?

Splash Pads and Shaved Ice

We have been going to the Splash pads once a week, and the little boy has been having lots of fun in the sun this summer.

This week, we shared a bench with a lady who was there with her kids, and we started talking. She mentioned she was bringing her kids for some snow cones afterwards.

The hubs was like, "Hmmmm.. snow cones".

We ended up with Shaved Ice, which is way better than snow cones, in our opinion :)

Hurray for a yummilicious day!

The Quest Continues..

...to find a welder who will be able to figure out the electronics under the truck!

Will we ever find this elusive craftsman?

A Cheap Thrill

We ordered something from Walmart and were quite excited to go retrieve it at the Newly Erected Pickup Tower at our local store.

We are easy to please and even more easily amused, can you tell?

Why do I do this to myself?

I thought it would be fun to revisit a hobby that I LOVED so much in the days before I was a full time homeworking, homeschooling mom.

Why did I think a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a menagerie of tribal masks would be fun?

Oh, sure, it's from Dollar Tree and only cost a dollar, but talk about Bang For Your Buck.

On the other hand, I can't back down from a good challenge :)

What has this Mama been up to?

Making Ricotta Cheese, apparently.

With the Instant Pot, comes many requests and much responsibility.

*sigh*

Good thing I had some Cheese Cloth laying around, begging to be used at some point in its life.

Welder #2

couldn't help us either, until we get the wiring under the truck sorted out.

There isn't anything wrong with the wiring; it's just that the place we need something welded onto, well, that area has wiring underneath, which needs to be reconfigured so as to make space for the piece to be welded on.

*le sigh*
