Homegrown Watermelon for Dinner
It is a weird sense of pride to be able to eat food you grew yourself. :)
And it's extra satisfying when they turn out right :)

Potato Harvest
I had planted them on a whim, just for fun.
I wasn't really expecting to be harvesting anything, really.
It wasn't a big harvest, and the potatoes were on the small side and misshapened, but it was exciting and fun - my first potato harvest :)
Darned Hornworms
Caterpillars decimated the tops/shoots of our tomato plants. We were wondering what on earth had happened, when the hubs caught sight of the fat grubby beasts.
They were sooooo well camouflaged that at first it was really difficult to spot them. When we knew what we were looking for, then it got to be much easier. We must have picked DOZENS off the tomato plants.

Asian Food Order
I had gone without Mooncakes for enough years. I decided to go ahead and order some very reasonably priced ones ( considering how pricey these can run ) for the (upcoming) season.
They did not disappoint.
You know the feeling you get when you haven't tasted something from your childhood/"other life" for the longest time and when you taste it, it just brings you all kinds of warm, fuzzy, "everything is right in the world" and relaxed feelings?
Yeah.

Dog Vomit Slime Mold
I think I have finally identified this crazy type of mold that has been cropping up around the yard.
I mean, isn't is just BIZARRE looking? And those oozy bits. I mean.
Yes'm, that there's some dog vomit slime mold, methinks.

Onward and Upward
The Air Conditioner atop the Mini Kenworth Truck has died, and as I was the younger and nimbler one, I volunteered to climb up to see if it was anything Super Obvious.

Grape Tomatoes Too!
When I was doing all this tomato planting, I grabbed one of the hubs' store-bought grape tomatoes, cut it up, and planted the parts.
Et Voila, a few months later, we have some Grape Tomatoes alongside the Cherry ones.

A New Waffle Maker
I can't remember what possessed me to purchase this.
Maybe it was on sale.
Maybe I felt like the boys had been a bit deprived while we remain cooped up amidst this Pandemic.

Homemade Raisins
There was a REALLY REALLY amazing deal on grapes at HEB a while ago.
Naturally, I got A BUNCH.
We've been eating them down slowly..... and has taken us so long to get to some of them that they have actually raisinized.
And these ones are Super Sweet!

Grocery Deliveries
I can't believe that we have been doing online groceries for over 2 years now, since the onset of The Pandemic. Wow.
Zooming with Old Pals
Way back in the early 1990s when I was studing Biotechnology in UPM, I was part of a group of students who volunteered to do "Community Service" at a New Village in Perak during the school holidays, working mainly with the school children in the village.
The new village that was selected, where we visited each school holiday while we were still at the university, was Ayer Kala.
There were many of us who had been in contact through the years on Facebook and Whatsapp, but we finally came around to having a Zoom session just now. I know I haven't seen these guys in person in over 25 years - since graduation. Even Brother Chow, who was the main coordinator from the village, joined in!
It was a wonderful session, even though there was quite a number of people who could not make it. It was lovely to the ones who did, catching up on each other's lives. It was surreal to see how everyone looked older, and yet seemed the same in so many ways. I hope we get to do it again some time in the future :)

Tomato Update
I suspect from here on out, there will probably be a LOT of tomato updates, seeing how they're really growing so prolifically, and producing all kinds of flowers.
