Our stuff got lifted

After 2 years in Texas,

and coming from a country where we are EXTRA paranoid about stuff getting lifted or stolen, I had finally come to feel comfortable about leaving things in the back of the truck while going into a store to get something.

Tonight, after shopping for household stuff at Sam's Club, we had loaded up stuff in the truck and locked it, but because of space constraints, had left some other things like laundry detergent, some toothpaste, mouthwash, protein drinks and granola bars in a box in the back, along with some kitty litter and roses to plant. Then, we went over to Ross'for a bit to get some more stuff.

When we got home and were unloading, the kitty litter and roses were where we had left them, but I could NOT find our box of supplies - and no, it could not have flown off while we were driving down the highway - I initially had this sickening feeling that we had left our supplies at the Sam's parking lot, but both of us remembered clearly that when we returned the carts, they were empty, and we had even checked that everything was stable in the back.

Someone had lifted them off the truck while we were in Ross'.

Now I am just mad.

Valentine Cookie Cake

Valentine's Day fell on Taco Tuesday...

David lost his mother a little over a year ago, and it had been a very difficult time for his dad - they would have been married 65 years last Friday.

So, it was great that Valentine's Day fell on a day where the family would get together for their weekly gathering/eat out at Rosa's Cafe and Tortilla Factory.

David and I brought a HUMONGALOID cookie cake for his dad to celebrate Valentine's and it was Wunderbar!!!

Sometimes it pays to watch football!

The Peach Bowl was about 6 weeks ago,

and during the telecast, there was a commercial asking people to go to the chick-fil-a website, where the first 100,000 lucky viewers would get a free chick-a-fil stuffed cow..

You can guess WHO rushed off to the website to take advantage of the offer...

Look what I got in the mail today!

Freebie Maniac

Just when I was thinking of lounging in my PJs, reading a good book while sipping some soothing tea...

I have a weakness .. I cannot resist requesting free samples..

Most of the times, it's little things like free pet food/treat samples, or free coupons for groceries, free magazines etc, and I've even gotten a free doctor-medical-bag styled super handbag before, but today I received what was almost like a Christmas Package in the mail, courtesy of Karen Neuburger and Prevention.com for being one of the first 2000 to take a "healthy heart" pledge! ( a > $85.00 value! )

1. Box of Caffeine Free Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime (20 teabags) tea

2. The Secret Language of Girlfriends Book

6 More Weeks of Winter

Phil Says Six More Weeks of Winter!

Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/06 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:

It is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Around the country there are many imitators of me.

In Harrisburg there is Gus who appears on TV
working for the lottery.

Then all around town,
Cute groundhog statues abound.
They all look like me, I found.

Today on the Knob as I'm doing my job,
I don't like this likeness of me.

It's my shadow I see. Six more weeks of mild winter there will be.

Groundhog Day

A traditional festival celebrated in the USA and Canada on February 2.

Tradition states that one must observe a groundhog's burrow on this day. If the groundhog emerges and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end;

However, if the groundhog sees its shadow because the weather is bright and clear, it will be frightened and run back into its hole, and the winter will continue for six more weeks.

Happy February!!!

I learnt 2 new words today...

Image hosting by Photobucket Image hosting by Photobucket

" Tchotchke "
( chats-ki) n.

"A toy; small plaything; a bauble;
a trinket; a gewgaw;
a gadget; a little knickknack "

Believe it or not, I learnt if from Weird Al's ebay song. David and I can get a little nutsoid on Ebay, so we can really relate to THIS song ..

(p/s it's hilarious)
