I thought I hadn't made a food post in a while,

so here's what I made today for Letti Thursday at Walter's.

Paula Dean's Corn Casserole

Fruit Jello

EVIL Eagle Brand Magic Cookie Bars

and on a hot summer evening, who can leave out watermelon?

Trees and Houses

Our Puppies have learned to climb up on the roof

of their A-Frame dog house - yeah, they are now big enough to do that. Usually there's more of them on the house than in the pic below, but I'll just have to be a bit more patient for the perfect Kodak Moment

In a similar vein, Tony has been building this masterpiece of a tree house for Elizabeth and we had fun climbing up into the house - there's just a bit more left to be done before it's all ready. Shana has started painting the tree house and made it look all pretty, with Elizabeth helping with the "finer touches".

I think all the grown ups are secretly jealous :P

"For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."

Woe is the Game Freak

Since I can't afford a Wii,

I have to settle for the el-cheapo Virtual Ping Pong for now. Well, at least it gets me off my er.. derrière.. for a bit. I can't believe, now that I look closer, that one of the pictures used on the packaging still has the iStockPhoto watermark on it. ROFL!!! Still, it can be pretty fun :)

So How Was Your 4th of July?

Fireworks, Fireworks, and MORE fireworks

David and I live a little bit out in the country - about 7 minutes from the city limits, at a place where we are high enough to have a panoramic view of the fireworks display that the city of Abilene put up on the 4th of July, as well as of some of the nearby smaller towns. So we move our pick up to where we have this amazing view, sit inside it ( have to protect ourselves from all those vampirous mosquitoes ) and sip our hot coffees, enjoying the beautiful and awesome light show.

We got some great bargains at the fireworks stands too, because we went and got ours at about 15 minutes till midnight/closing time. I just HAD to get some of those mega mega humongaloid sparklers... Oh, and what a GREAT haggler, David is.

Galatians 5:1
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
