Safety City

We went on to Safety City after Boo at the Zoo, and this time we were actually there NOT when they were about to close.

So, we had time to actually wander around and see the sights and gather some loot :)

ALSO, there was time for a cupcake walk!

Boo at The Zoo !

It was pretty chilly that day, so if the little boy looks a little bulky in the photos, it is because he was wearing Layer Upon Layer Upon Layer of clothes :)



Otherwise, it was a very pretty and sunny day.

I mean, it is the Zoo, people. A Zoo that has a very pretty park and lovely lake Right There.

Unlike past years, we didn't get our tickets beforehand, but it was a fairly short line and we got our tickets in no time at all.

THEN came the long lines.

It was like they had found new ways to make us snake our way to the actual event.

Bonus though, we saw a tiny little Yoda ahead of us.  We had not seen a single other Yoda all Halloween season long.

Many kids could not resist messing with this Inflatable Animatronic Spider though. Lots of glee, giggles and swishing of swords and light sabers at it.

We had a nice view, though, which sort of made up for all that queuing.
The Zoo had recently added a Swan Paddle Boat feature to the lake, but it was closed that day.
I don't blame them. It might have been too chaotic for life.

The little boy is so used to having had the Papparazzi and Mammarazzi right in his face literally since he was born, and has now become so accustomed to it that HE is the one who excitedly calls out, "TAKE A PICTURE! TAKE A PICTURE!!"

Then we FINALLY get to the trick or treat stations, and thank goodness the lines seem to be going fairly quickly.

More stares for the Mamarazzi. I mean, seriously? You're the one with the skeletal dog in the cone.

Sometimes I feel compelled to caption each photograph, like I am afraid for some reason that people might read the blog, see a photo and wonder what the context was.

I should give myself a knock on the head and remind myself that this blog ( and the other as well ) was mainly conceived to be an online record/journal of MOST of the parts of my life that "I" would want to look back at and remember.

There are some things that are not shared on here, and that's fine. 

Even Jedi Masters need a breather now and again.

Nevertheless, the Force is strong in my Family.

The last time we were at the Zoo was also during Boo at the Zoo last year.   We were hoping to get a close look at the Giraffes then, but the feeding platform was closed to the general public.  I get it. You don't want giraffes spooked by hordes of strangely dressed humans poking stuff in their faces.



This year, the feeding platform was closed too, but we managed to get somewhat close. :)

Another short rest for our young Jedi.

There was even time to roll down a little knoll with other adventurous types.

The rest of the time was just spent walking around looking at all the various animals and people-ogling.

UNTIL we came to the Sand Pit.

I know he was in a long drape-y gown and all, but how often does he get to do this?

and he just absolutely LOVES to do this.

Halloween 2017 Part 3

First, we went downtown and parked by the library.  The first place we were going was the First Baptist Church Parking Lot where they were having probably the hugest Trunk or Treat in town.



The party was already in full swing when we arrived.

One of my favorite things is seeing what kind of costumes people come up with.

The little boy's favorite part? The Bouncy Castles :)

It was fun to see him and a few boys strike up a conversation about their costumes while Captain Underpants watched on :)

There was ONE other little boy who was dressed as Kylo Ren ( not the one he is speaking to in this pic ), who kept taunting him about Yoda being dead.  The little boy coolly told him "I'm the Yoda Force-Ghost" :)

Being Yoda's Force-Spirit didn't diminish any of the fun on the bouncy castles though :)

After getting our fill ( well, I say OUR because the little boy would still have gone on for hours if we were not a little pressed for time ) with the inflatables, we proceeded to the Trunk or Treat area.

There were not as many cars this year as in years past, and the lines were not humongously long either. Maybe it was because we arrived a little later than usual.

Yes, it's not only the costumed kids who get looks, the Mamarazzi gets lots of looks too.

The Spelling Police in me was dying to point out to SOMEONE, ANYONE, that you don't spell Chopsticks that way.

It is really neat though, how people volunteer to think up themes for their cars and then actually follow through and decorate them. All for the kids.

I mean, PLINKO.

MORE fun and games.

Some day, as all of this floats around in the world wide web, we will come back to reminisce and have  collective "AWWWWW"s at moments like these :)

After doing the rounds, ( and besides, they were closing shop ), we hopped on over to Southern Hills, where THEY were having a Trunk or Treat event as well.

THIS year, we didn't have to wait in line quite as long as we inched our way towards the parking lot area.

I am always quite amazed at how cooperative people are, and that there are no crazy stampedes or pushing and shoving.

I DO wish, though, that we could have stopped a little longer at certain stations, just because there was so much to see, and they had put in a lot of thought and effort into their decorations.

Once the trunk or treat part was over with, it was On To The Play Area Ahoy!
