Giving Grandad's Crepe Myrtle it's turn in the spotlight :) I still miss that dear, dear man.

Fighting Back
Our Mesquite Trees have been ravaged by Cutworms this year, but they're fighting back, and we can see new growth emerging triumphantly, as if to say, "In Your Face, Cutworms".
We were quite worried we were going to end up with a bunch of dead trees in the yard and all around, and are thankful to see them coming back. :)

Tomato Update
The tomato plants, at the top left of the photo, are getting really tall! To the right we have watermelon!

A Welcome Bug
Now THIS kind of bug we can get behind and welcome with open arms.
Zee Ladybugs
Seeing a yellow one is delightful, like having a yellow-fleshed watermelon after just gorging on red ones endlessly all summer :)

Caterpillars on Sunflowers
I just Googled these critters..
They're called Checkerspot Caterpillars, and are giving me The Creeps feasting on the Sunflower Leaves.
Potato Blooms
I have never attempted to plant Potatoes before, but we had some that were shriveled with umpteen eyes on each of them. What was left to do but plonk them in the ground like Matt Damon in The Martian, and see what happened.
Boy, did they grow.
They have pretty little petite flowers,
and are pretty much what's in the foreground in this pic :)

Amazing Growth
Remember the little baby watermelon I posted a few days ago, well look at it now!
It is WAY bigger than my palm, and when we peek under the leafy vines, we can see many more!
Peach Blooms
Our family never planted roses before, so when I got here and found out that the hubs was a big Rose lover, I didn't really think about it so much.
But now, these many years down the line, with as many blooms as we have been able to enjoy, I can see how he was and continue to be enchanted by them.

We are in the throes of summer right now and things have been growing like crazy.

Baby Watermelon
So it looks like some of the blooms have indeed been pollinated and are bearing fruit!
What a satisfying feeling!
The Sunflower Arch
The sunflowers on both sides of the little walkway out to the dog doo area have now formed a pretty little archway :)
