A Short Walk

On days like these, when it isn't too cool-ish, the little boy and I like to take a leisurely walk down to The Mailbox, to gather up the day's mail and newspaper.  Sometimes, there's the trash can to haul back in as well.

But mostly, we like to look around and see how nature is changing with the seasons.

This one time, we were being ogled by The Paint Horse next door.

While I was trying to take a picture of this majestic animal, he got photobombed by a goat.

Such are the little daily adventures in our life in the country.

Boring?
NEVER.

The Woods' Rambo Heritage

We were invited to the dedication of Stevens Park at ACU, honoring John Stevens and his wife, Ruth.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication-001
John Stevens was Chancellor Emeritus at Abilene Christian University and we were related to him through Jaxon's Grandad.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication1-001
John Steven's wife, Ruth, was a Rambo, and cousin to Grandad Walter, whose mother was a Rambo.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication2-001
And which is where Jaxon got his middle name from... as a tribute to Great Grandmom Elma Rambo.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication3-001
Joyce, Ruth's daughter, had invited us to come honor her parents that day.  It was cold and breezy, and when the dedication was over, we were ushered over to Wildcat Stadium, a new addition to the grounds.

Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication5-001
We went up to the Club level of the stadium where lunch was waiting. I have to admit, it was pretty exciting to be part of all the poshness.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication6-001
We could see quite far off, from where we were standing.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication7-001
and we couldn't help venturing outside before lunch to take it all in, especially the new football field.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication8-001
It was certainly an honor meeting and eating with all these Very Important People.
Nov 10 Stevens Park Dedication9-001
After lunch, it took us no time at all to venture out onto the field, having seen it being built for months and months.

There was a football laying by the benches and the hubs and the little boy even had a chance to toss the ol' pigskin around for a bit.

We were all very proud to have been a part of remembering 2 splendid people, and it was extra special for the little boy :)

Cindy's Home!

Frances and her kids met us halfway at Ranger to hand Cindy over to us so that we could hopefully safely bring her back to Abilene :)

I know these are photos of a pretty generic looking truck stop, but when I first came to the States, these were like little playgrounds for me :)

20171105_114902-001

I believe the little boy sees them as such too :)

20171105_115036-001

The kids are sooo grown up, it is ridiculous :)

I know, I know, I have no pictures of Cindy for some reason, but otherwise, we are grateful she is home :)

Flu Shots.... CHECK!

The little boy woke up yesterday, not knowing that he was about to get a flu shot later in the morning.  To be fair, neither did we.  Long story short, we stopped by the Paed's office and scheduled an appointment right there and then.

The little boy had said earlier, "I think I would rather just get the flu shot, get it over with, and not have to think about dreading it any more".

So, really, he didn't have time to dread it at all. LOL :)

After that, he hubs and I had our shots at the HEB Pharmacy.  I had to fill in forms and wait for our turn etc, so meanwhile, the little boy found an empty box he could play with.

I love that he can still have a lot of fun amusing himself with an empty box just coz mom and dad are having to wait around for their Flu Shots.

Halloween 2017 Part 7 ( last but not least )

After having a grand time at Hillcrest, we decided to hit the neighborhoods.  We managed to find one where most people were participating in giving out candy, but with hardly anyone else trick or treating.

20171031_210013-001

Daddy and Mommy stayed close by the whole time, while trying to give the little boy a bit of space as well.

20171031_203355-001

It was heartwarming to see people opening up their homes and hearts to the trick or treaters.

20171031_203544-001

We DID manage to come across some other kids though, and share candy stories a little.

20171031_210158-001

There was also the time when the little boy mimicked an inflatable, terrorizing what seemed to be the ground in front of them.

20171031_205702-001

The little boy is always polite and courteous, so we didn't need to worry that way.

20171031_205628-001

but at the back of my mind, I would sometimes think, "What if the person who opened the door decided to do a trick instead of giving a treat??"

20171031_202029-001

Well, thank goodness we didn't encounter any of that sort, but instead, came upon a family that had opened up their entire back yard to the public.

20171031_200444-001

They even had out games and music and got dressed up and everything.

20171031_200517-001

Needless to say, we were quite impressed.

20171031_200738-001

We tackled a few more houses on another street,

20171031_201745-001

and decided that even though it had been a fun filled evening,

20171031_203412-001

that we were going to take our loot  and head on home

20171031_210554-001

till next Halloween :)

I know I'm supposed to know who people are under their makeup, but I am still trying to figure out who this pair was :P

20171031_184940-001

I for one, was glad to be inside where it was warmer, albeit noisier :P

20171031_185203-001

20171031_185210-001

The little boy quite enjoyed painting faces on the tangerines that were handed out.
I wondered why they didn't use tiny pumpkins this year.
Hmmm.

20171031_185354-001

Then it was off to Fun and Games!

 ESPECIALLY the Bounce Houses.

And there were SEVERAL of THOSE.

20171031_190937-001

20171031_190256-001

The lines to play the various games weren't too long, and so it wasn't too bad.

Once again, there was the Cupcake Walk / Musical Chairs thingy

20171031_191515-001

The little boy was incredulous to have had his number called out at the very first try :)

20171031_191223-001

Love you, little boy.
