Hurray for Online Asian Food Grocers!

The Weekly Grind

T'is the Weekly Grocery Sorting and Putting-Away Routine.

I think I have the system down pretty pat.

The mesquite leaves have been pretty lux in their coverage, what with blooms busting  out everywhere.

Pretty.

Thank Goodness it was just a glitch / mistake and that we weren't just being picked on.

Power Outage Blues

When the power goes out, you are thankful it is not in the hottest heat of the day; then bring out the candles to play some games!

Wide Open Spaces

I am ever so glad for the fact that we are out here in the wide open spaces of the countryside. Our nearest neighbors are close enough to be neighborly, and yet we have this sprawling view of fields beyond, the city and the hills beyond.

And the rest of civilization is just a few miles away! :)

Spring is for Blooming....

.... be you a blackberry bloom, a rose, or an Iris.

Irises A-Bloomin'

For some reason, I keep wanting to call Irises "Daylilies". Hm. Addled older brain, maybe? *sigh*

What would Easter be without an egg hunt in the yard, eh?

More pics on the boy's blog.

Dyeing Easter Eggs

An activity we never miss is Dyeing Easter Eggs.  More pics on the little boy's blog.

They turned out pretty good and I even got us some Peep Chicks to nestle in the little nest with them. LOL.

Amazon ( Non ) Delivery

The lawn cart / wagon lost a wheel a week ago. We had some inner tubes left over that were for an older cart ( predecessor to this current one ), but they were faulty and leaked.

So we ordered new ones and were overjoyed that it seemed to have been delivered. I NEED that cart on a weekly ( and many times, more than once a week ) basis for grocery deliveries.

However, when we got up to the gate, we couldn't find the package anywhere even though Amazon insists that it had been delivered.

On closer inspection, we saw that there was a photo accompanying the delivery notice, and it was NOT OUR HOUSE that Amazon Logistics had left our package at.  We have NO IDEA whose house it was left at, but certainly not ours.

So, we had to call it in and get a replacement sent out. I hope they get here in time for our NEXT grocery delivery.

Also, it has the little boy's bicycle replacement inner tube too! I know. Our inner tubes had synchronized deaths, alas.

The Constant Gardener

Here we go again. Seedling a-growin'.

Fingers crossed for a good harvest at the end of it all.

It's time to get them plants out of doors again.

Over the winter time, we have had an assortment of plants indoors to protect them from the low temperatures.  They have actually done quite well indoors and are ready to bust out mightily in the sunshine once again.

I have some dead-leaves-trimming to do, but they will look gorgeous afterwards. :)

Spring Time Irises

The hub's parents used to have the Most Amazing Irises in their garden, and they would have garden parties to celebrate them.  Our Iris plants are so very humble compared to theirs. Almost 2 decades ago, when we first came to Abilene, we actually picked them up in a back alley in town, where someone had dumped them.

They have given us year after year of delight, even though bloom time lasts only about 2 weeks or so.

Awkward ConTrail

We are on the flight path of so many planes that we are very used to seeing contrails all over the sky every day.  Today, though, was a little different, because of the turn that one of the planes made. I mean, planes make turns all the time, and this must seem like one of the dullest things to have observed, but hey, we don't hardly see this.  So there.  :P
