I have been scared half to death several times,

by this pretty realistic wind up mouse that has come to occupy some floor space at home.

All because of the Silkiness.

These days, my food posts are few and far between, but dinner tonight was very pretty, and I HAD to
"take a picture, take a picture" :)

Pig Bone Soup

Finally breaking out one of the soup packets that my mom brought with her from Malaysia.

I used neck bones, which are anatomically at the opposite end from tail bones, but oh well.

YUM!

4th Of July Fireworks

After an absence of a year or two of fireworks displays, a bunch of very industrious volunteers decided to go ahead and organize one for the city :)

We were very grateful.  Along with the rest of the fireworks-starved population of Abilene, we parked our car somewhere where we thought we would be able to see the fireworks from not too far away.

When we got home, we took out some of the fireworks that had been stashed away, for a little bit of our own celebration :)
