Alternative Fuel

It has been several days of freezing rain and cold iciness, but more on that later..

More importantly, thank goodness we had gone by and filled up the propane tanks.

I never thought about such things before I came to the States - like how they won't help you load/unload the propane tanks, and how like at Lowe's, they won't help you strap your stuff down - for legal and insurance reasons.

It was COLD that day :) The Propane Guys were all wrapped up.

"Propane Guy" reminds me of Hank. heh heh

Oh, and emergency shut off switches are extremely important. I needed to know where that was, for sure :)

Holiday Happenings V : Christmas Day 2014

We had hung up our stockings with care, along with some other "dummy" boots, the night before Christmas.  Naturally, the little boy's was so big, it had to be hung somewhere else, close by. :)

We went straight for the stocking-loot first :) And we also noticed that Santa had finished up his cookies and milk and left a note wishing us Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The hubs got some coffee in his!

Then it was off into the house, where the little boy's eyes grew large as saucers at the presents under the tree :)

He had one question, though..."Mommy, all these presents have my name on them! What about you and daddy??" :)
I told him that HE had made a wish list, whereas Mommy and Daddy hadn't. :)

And wouldn't you know it, he got most of the things on that wish list :)

The few things he loved best were the "Don't let the Pigeon finish this Activity Book" book, his Angry Birds Transformers Sticker Book, and the Angry Birds Go Jenga Game.

And how could it be Christmas Morning without a Christmas themed breakfast? :)

We did not have a gathering for Christmas lunch like in previous years, as most of the family was away, so we made a dessert and joined Judith and Jim for a cosy Christmas dinner that night. :)

Holiday Happenings IV : Baking Cookies

The little boy had wanted to make cookies to leave out for Santa, and everytime I have wanted to make cookies, they start spreading and become mere blobs.
 photo PC242106_zps3d844619.jpg
This time, I decided to take the easy way out and purchase premade cookie dough and just do cookie cutting and baking with the little boy.
 photo PC242089_zps75b556b2.jpg
He had a lot of fun making imprints and playing with the flour, and I had to teach him the concept of making the cuts close to each other and the edge,

and not wherever we wished; like, say, right dab in the middle of the piece of immaculate dough.

They came out very well, and I made sure not to over-bake them.

The little boy helped with some of the icing and decoration, but soon left for greener pastures while I finished up the rest.

Holiday Happenings III : Christmas Lane

We went by on the eve of Christmas Eve to Christmas Lane, and apparently, there were a lot of "last-minute"ers like ourselves, hoping to soak in some bit of organized Christmas Lights before the big day.

Therefore, even though the queue was not superbly ridiculous, it still took a while to inch our way to the gate.

The little boy sat on Daddy's lap and "drove" for a bit inside the compound, oohing and aahing and pointing to familiar characters.

It was quite a windy day, and so a bunch of the inflatables pretty much appeared drunk.
 photo CurrentFolder2_zpse3b4a9ae.jpg
After driving around the "designated route", we parked and went into the building where Santa was, as well as other indoor displays.
 photo CurrentFolder3_zpseb379b62.jpg
BUT, first we called up the North Pole and spoke to some elves who were working in Santa's workshop!
 photo CurrentFolder4_zps010e3663.jpg
The little boy was fascinated by the large scene with trains in the middle of the room, as well as the themed displays.
 photo P1050166_zps43434a85.jpg
We had watched The Grinch Who Stole Christmas for the first time this year, and so that was the first display he actually ran to and asked for a photo to be taken.

I can't believe I'll have to wait an entire year for all this again.  But then again, it hardly seems like any time had passed by from when we visited Christmas Lane last year.  The little boy wasn't too too interested in seeing Santa, and so we left to drive around the neighborhoods to see Christmas decorations.

We went home happy :)
