West Texas Fair and Rodeo 2018 Part 1

We were out in town and managed to get in before 2:30 p.m., which is when they start collecting entrance fees. :P

We knew we were going to come back another time, and so we just did a brief walk-about to all the different places, stopping by the Round Building first.
A number of things caught our eyes..

The first being this poor R2D2 that actually won first place, but the person who displayed him obviously had NO IDEA what he was, and so he was destined to spend the entire Fair Week upside down.

I know, right?
And then there was this person who submitted their Lip Gloss Collection.

Wow. Just Wow.

The Art area was quite interesting, and there were many categories..

My favorite drawings were those done by the little'uns. :)

This was one of  the little boy's favorite exhibit.

Why?

Well, just look at the description for the entry :)

Then we hopped off to the next building, where we were totally NOT surprised to see that Judith's collection of dolls submitted had once again won numerous prizes.

along with her quilts that also received ribbons as well as a couple of Chairman's Choice awards!

Meanwhile, it poured and poured and poured some more outside.

I think we were a little early, because there wasn't anyone manning a bunch of the stuff at the Ag Exhibits, but the little boy helped himself to the Growing A Flower station and brought a little cup filled with soil and a couple of sunflower seeds home to try to grow.

And how could he NOT ride on the harvester simulator?

or cycle the wind power thingy?

The cows were humongous, as usual.

The petting zoo wasn't quite open yet, and so we left hoping it would be, the next time we were there.

We continue with the Victorian Era

Since the 3rd Season of Victoria has yet to premiere, I find that there are many other delights within the walls of Amazon Prime :P

I shall pick them off one by one, starting with Julian Fellowes Presents Doctor Thorne.
So far so good :) Alas, it is only in 3 parts - but I suppose that could be a good thing.

Binge Watching...

I was in the middle of Peter Capaldi's tumultuous first season as The Doctor ( my second run at the new series, having finished all 2005 - 2017 series ), when I thought I was ready for a change of pace, even if temporarily.

With Amazon Prime at our fingertips, I decided to embark upon Victoria next.  It has accompanied me on my many hours of school prep, and it does remind one of Downton Abbey with its upper and lower crustedness living in the same household.

And I suppose it wasn't so much a coincidence that Jenna Coleman is in both of them :)

But I love it all the same :)

And yes, I have close captioning on. :)

Update: Well, my vocabulary certainly has been expanding with every episode.

Bad Watermelon, Bad Watermelon!

We bought a yellow watermelon from United the other day, and when I cut into it, a bunch of its parts were mushy and white and kinda spiderwebby, and when I removed them with a spoon, all that was left was NOT MUCH.
Needless to say, we brought it back for a refund.

Accidental Hologram

The hubs was in the bathroom and suddenly hollered, "HOLOGRAM!".

We all got into the bathroom, and saw that the reflection of the skylight onto the convex glass sink had made an optical illusion that looked very much like a hologram :)

I couldn't capture it in the photo, but to our eyes, it was very believable indeed.
