We have been under drought conditions for some time.
So, THIS is not what you want to see as you walk out of your house, with the wind whipping.
The fire was in the next field over, across the street, and the hubs said he could see the top of some flames. There were sirens and emergency vehicles gong up and down the road to stave the fire off and put it out. I immediately launched into Pack Up So We Can Escape mode. The neighbors next door were already packed up and ready to evacuate.
Thank God, before long, the fire was under control and the emergency vehicles began to leave one by one. We were quite close to being in a bad way, and can only be very grateful the emergency responders acted as quickly as they did.
