Animal Farm

We had a chance to visit a friend's farm today.

There's something about being able to get up close to "farm" animals. A short drive brought us to "Sikes' Farm" where he had goats, llamas, miniature mules and horses.

It was fun to show Jaxon the animals that he had only seen in his board books, and for him to be able to get close and pet them.

First came the goats. Initially, we were kind of apprehensive, especially with the horned ones.. , but they were very mellow and more curious than anything, I think. Or maybe they thought we had food for them.

Next, we walked over to the miniature mules, which were a little shy at first, keeping their distance.

After they warmed up to us a little, I kept getting bumped by one or another of them!

That gave Jaxon the opportunity to try and grab at their ears though..

The little boy may have been a little blase about the horses, but he couldn't resist the little week-old baby goats

We also managed to see an old vintage International truck, and a classic Studebaker

I can't wait to get back there when Jaxon is a little older :)

Stephanie & Shana's Art Show

The family's gene pool is just teeming with all kinds of talent

This evening, we attended the opening of Stephanie & Shana's art show. It was mainly glass art ( blown and fused ) , but they also collaborate with a friend who does metal work as well. There was quite the turn up at the "do", and I overheard the organizers saying that several pieces had already been snapped up. Woot!

Easter Celebrations

Jaxon was only a couple of weeks old last year

when Easter came around..it's surreal how long ago that seems, and yet at the same time, it doesn't feel like that much time has passed..

ANYWAY, we had Easter lunch over at Judith's, followed by the much anticipated Egg Hunt. It certainly was a new experience when Judith called up and said, "Bring a basket for Jaxon, and some eggs too". I mean, I knew we were going over for lunch, but it didn't occur to me that I would have to get him a basket and that it was finally time for me to contribute to the "egg pool". hehe. Mummy brain syndrome is a dangerously lingering thing.

Yes, mummy made me wear this outfit, and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.

This strange thing.. grass.. is way more interesting than that egg over there

Sometimes when the light is just right, you get a chance at a shot like this...

Happy Easter, one and all

Jesus loves me, this I know;
The Easter story tells me so.
He died for me to bear my sin;
He opened heaven to let me in.
Yes, Jesus loves me;
Yes Jesus loves me;
Yes Jesus loves me;
Easter tells me so.

A year and a week

That's how old our little boy is.

The last week had been a little crazy, what with stomach bugs ( poor Jaxon still has it ) and whatnot, but I finally have some time off this evening after putting the little one to bed, and so here's a catch up post on his birthday celebrations.

It wasn't a huge party, but we DID send out invitations to everyone, even though it was going to be at Taco Tuesday, and everyone was going to be there anyway. We got some decorations from Walmart, and were expecting maybe around 20 people, but woohoo, 30 people turned up and lots of fun was had by all.

Note how amateurish they look? Yeah. Mommy made them :)

Setting the tables and putting up the decorations, and daddy getting some video time in. We ended up having to add maybe 3 or 4 more tables at the end.

I was supposed to be writing Jaxon's birthday post

But then both my boys got sick

with a stomach bug.

So in between changing poor little Jaxon's umpteen diapers and helping David's stomach settle, as well as everything else at home, I haven't had time to sort out the photos.. Hopefully they will both be feeling much better tomorrow.

Bleh.
