Loss of Limb

A severe thunderstorm blew through Abilene a couple of days ago, with winds in excess of 90 miles an hour.  We are very grateful that the only casualty was the mesquite tree that stands proudly in our front yard.

We were not home at the time, but this is where we usually park our car.

We are very sad to that our lovely tree is fractured and we have lost some of the lovely shade it provides, but we are truly truly thankful that it didn't fall on our house or anyONE for that matter.

Yesterday, the hubs ( with the little boy "helping" ), took down the limb and cleared up the front yard.

Bad Blogger ! Bad Blogger!

This blog wasn't really intended for public consumption.  It was more of a journal of sorts to remember things by, kinda like an online diary....

But I haven't been very consistent with it, of late.  ANYWAY, to cut down on the long windedness, I am finally posting Azmari's birthday party - the next little boy in line to turn 4 after Max and Jaxon.  Azmari was born about a month after Jaxon, and is Grandad's Great Great Grandson :)

It's always nice and heartwarming to see Jaxon and Max running around playing and sharing stuff even though they don't get to see each other all that often, now that Taco Tuesday is basically defunct.

Saturday Excursion

We used to go on Saturday excursions with Grandad almost every weekend since shortly after the little boy was born.  After Grandad passed away, our excursions have been far and few between.  A couple of weekends ago, though, we decided to pack ourselves up and take a drive over to Lueders.

We made a stop at The Big Country Baptist Assembly encampment and hey, they had playground equipment!

and then we took a walk along the river ( where I kept obsessing about the presence/absence of chiggers ),

where the hubs showed the little boy some rock skipping tips.

We got back to Abilene in time for Azmari's birthday, but that's for the next post!
