We went for Jaxon's 2 year old Well Child visit
with his pediatrician today. It went fairly well, and the doctor was very pleased with his growth and development.
Momma didn't feel like going home to make breakfast, and the little boy had asked for pancakes, and so off we went to IHOP for some grub.
It's a good thing we brought your Asus netbook for entertainment while waiting for the pancakes, but you did startle the older couple at the next table when you suddenly shouted "N ! L ! E !" when asked by Super Why what letters were on the screen, or chuckling loudly when Max giggled at having his funny bone checked in Max and Ruby. :)

Birthday Proper
On the little boy's actual birthday,
we had a little celebration of our own at home.
Started off with a breakfast of Alphabet Pancakes!
And rounded it off with Chocolate Birthday Cake after Dinner!

Has it really been 2 whole years?
Saturday was a beautiful day for a birthday
Judith was so sweet and had asked us if we would like to have Jaxon's 2nd Birthday Party at her home. The kids love to play in her backyard, which is shady and cool, and there was no shortage of little boys there that day, playing away.
When we first got there, bringing the food and cake, Max was already in the sand box with Elizabeth, but Jaxon hadn't been to Mamo's in a while, and he was off on an adventure to explore every nook and cranny of the backyard.
Soon, people started arriving,
and it was time to get the Pizza party on the road :)
Of course we had to get an Elmo cupcake cake, with matching plates and napkins, seeing how it was the little boy's current "obsession"...
Thank you, everyone, for the lovely presents, and for celebrating the little boy's birthday with us.

Spring has Sprung
It sprang early here, really.
We have had some pretty warm temperatures here for a while now. Why can't it stay 74F all year round? It's already in the 80s and even 90s, and it just officially turned spring YESTERDAY!
Bleh.
Anyway, some time in the fall, I believe, a neighbor ran over Grandad's rose bush in the back alley. It was one that Granny Franny had "claimed" for her own and so we always refered to it as HER rose bush. The neighbor had backed his car into it or something to that effect, and had sheared it off at the ground. David has been trying to whatever could be salvaged from the broken off part, including trying to clone and grow cuttings from it.
Towards the end of winter, though, a young shoot started making its way out and up from the flattened root/base. On the nights where it got near to or below freezing, David has tried to shield it from the elements and keep it warm with a lamp and a cover.
Now that the weather is warmer, it seems to have really taken off and started this really amazing growth spurt.
The grape plant that we planted a few years ago, is also starting to come out of hibernation and stretching out its vines.

Welcome Home, Grandad.
We were supposed to have an excursion with Grandad last Saturday,
and met up with him and Lin at McDonalds for breakfast, as usual.
Grandad did not have much of an appetite and his hands were shaking pretty badly. He was also having some difficulty breathing. It was mentioned that he might think about seeing a doctor, which he readily agreed to. When we had him in our car and actually heard him breathing laboriously, we decided that instead of an excursion, we needed to detour over to the emergency room.
We quickly called up the other family members to let them know, and before long, everyone else was waiting with Grandad in the ER, where he was being seen before being transferred upstairs.
The ER is no place for a rambunctious little 2 year old with mind of his own, so we retreated to the car, and thanks to drinks and snacks and the trusty ASUS Eee which is loaded up with his videos, we rode it out ( no pun intended ) quite smoothly.
Turns out,Grandad had pneumonia, and so last week, we went up to see Grandad twice a day, and David spent a few nights keeping his dad company.
and the little boy always found something new to do and keep himself occupied. AND whenever we passed by the little "nutrition" room where they kept snacks and food for the patients, he would ask for "CWAKO!" ( crackers )
Grandad was glad to finally be able to go home on Thursday, and we are thankful that he is all better!
